About Me

Oh hello! I’m Ashton, a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner living in Eastern Washington with my husband and two pups. I’m so glad you’re here!

My passion for nutrient dense nourishment and holistic healing comes from my own health journey and my experience within the allopathic model of “sick care”. Starting in 2011, I had seen multiple doctors and many specialists, and no one could give me an answer to why I was feeling the way I was. The majority of my teen years were spent at doctor’s offices, in bed or in the emergency room. I experienced debilitating abdominal pain, poor gut function, fatigue, adrenal dysfunction, depression, severe anxiety, and horrible menstrual cycles. I had to leave my traditional high school for a more remote option and was essentially housebound. Three years and seven different doctors later, I felt helpless and hopeless. I was told that my only option was a prescription for pain management medication and biofeedback therapy to cope with the pain I was experiencing daily. I was considering these treatments when a family friend recommended that I see a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. In that first appointment I felt seen and understood. I started to do my own research and realized that what was on my plate and some poor lifestyle habits were directly affecting the health of my body. I learned that there is no “one-size-fits-all” when it comes to our health – that healthcare should be individualized and based on a nutrient-dense diet. I stopped chasing symptoms, looked to the root cause and I started to see real, lasting change. Western medicine has a time and place and dang, am I thankful for emergency medicine, however, I think real results will start to happen when we shift the paradigm toward holistic and preventative care by encouraging real food nourishment and healthy lifestyle practices over bandaid solutions that just lead us to be sicker in the long run. This is why in 2019, I finished my certification as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner so that I could help others experience true healing and wellbeing.

At Nourishing Roots, I hope to create an environment where my clients feel seen and heard. I hope to educate and empower people to tap into their body’s innate intelligence, nourish their bodies with real food, and cultivate healthy lifestyle practices for true wellness. I hope to help those struggling to find answers to their health issues get to the root cause of their symptoms and support their body’s innate ability to heal. And I truly believe this is possible for everyone willing to do the work. Optimal health isn’t a destination, it’s a practice and I look forward to helping you on that path!
